2014, 2015, and beyond

Greetings my ninjas!

Happy new year to all of you out there. Admittedly, it has been a little while since the Think Kings staff has had time to get a blog post out to all of you good people, but, we are back and recharged!

As we get started with this new year it is always a good idea to reflect on the past year and to look forward beyond this year. So let’s do that.

Last year was great for all of us. Our company saw some growth, one of our authors released two books, and one of our esteemed members graduated and received a degree in graphic design! All in all, a pretty good year.

So, what’s in store for this year?

It is our sincere hope, that we will continue to ride the momentum that we created from 2014. We have a whole lineup of products coming out this year for all of you to enjoy. Everything from new publications to merchandise and swag is on the horizon.

We are really excited for this year! As long as the creative gods allow , Think Kings Will continue to push forward!

Which brings me to my mantra for this year. Always create, always move forward, and always follow through. Think Kings is here to help inspire you, and maybe give you some guidance on your journey. The creative force behind everything we do is multiplied and bolstered by our collective efforts.

We hope that you can join us in this adventure. 2015 is setting up to be an outstanding year already, but we have to look beyond what is right in front of us. Let’s do it together.

Thanks for reading.

A Peek Into My World

MorningRoutineKat here, this week we will be sharing a little of ourselves, a photographic glimpse into our world…  So grab your Venti Extra Hot Caramel Brulee (or is that just me??) and stay awhile…

Every morning starts out the same for my little family…  a routine which I love and also reminds me how precious time is.  Since I am a mommy who happens to be a creative I try to encourage my littles to artistically express themselves & it is an amazing blessing to watch their imaginations flourish.  I keep crayons, markers, paper & Legos always available and at their level so they can get colorful & creative whenever they feel the urge.  I plaster their most current masterpieces on the fridge, it’s a hot mess but they love it .  And trust me, every scribble is their BEST work so I LOVE seeing their little faces light up with excitement to see their own work hung.  One of my creative goals this year (mentioned here) is to incorporate family art into my home decor.  I am in the process of making a whole gallery wall for the kids artwork, I can rotate their art pieces as they create them.  Pictures coming soon!  I have also been trying to use their art mixed with my art and so far it has been a blast.

Below is a recent project we did, the kids feel so proud and were all smiles at their work.  Their bathroom is ocean themed so I wanted them to have the chance to add to that.  I gave them canvases and watercolors and they had a blast getting messy, the final results came out pretty amazing.  While the paint dried I asked them what kind of ocean animal they wanted their mama to draw for them and we went on an internet hunt to find the perfect picture.  They each picked one out and while they slept I drew their animals and hung them on the bathroom wall.  Boy oh boy were they excited to see the final pieces and every time they go into their bathroom they point out the whale and the “acuh-puss”.  haha.  I am one happy mama!

Thanks for reading & happy creating!!!!!

Inspiration- Our top 5 quotes

Good day to our TK family.

This week we will be divulging our top five quotes that inspire us in our respective fields of expertise.

We know how it is. Every day you are grinding away, trying to make your dreams come true. But what is going to keep you going? Daily inspiration is extremely important. I’d like to think of it as breakfast for the mind. If you don’t have the most important meal of the day, then the rest of the day will pretty much suck.

So as a novelist, here are my top 5 quotes that get me going when I’m feeling down. Enjoy, my ninjas.

Well, there it is. I hope this helps you get off your ass and get going. To all my writers out there, just keep writing. Everything will work out in the end.

Plan Your Journey

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.  Lao-tzo – Chinese philosopher

You might wonder why we here @ Think Kings Creative Studio share a bit of our creative side… Well the way I see it is, we went to be a part of the creative conversation. Art can come from so many different places, is rich in diversity but it unites us in a way. We are realizing that as creatives, we are just specks in the beautiful universe of awesomeness; and as we create we are adding our marks one design, story, photo, painting, collage or illustration at a time. So if Think Kings can spark just one imagination, just one person thinks out of the box, or they have fun and get messy with a craft, then it’s all worth it. So come along with us on our creative journey. Join the conversation in our attempts to Create a Better Reality.

The reason I talk so passionately about our little creative studio is because my fellow creative nerds, Perry & Q, help to keep me inspired, and creatively accountable. The other way for me to stay on top of my game is to STAY ORGANIZED. I am a ‘B’ average student in the Organization of Life 101 class.  It is seriously a challenge to keep good habits but I try to stay positive and keep moving forward.  One of my creative GOALS is to keep myself on track because I tend to have what I like to call Art ADHD.  What I mean by this, is my attention on one particular project is inconsistent because of my excitement over the next project, which lessens my productivity and amplifies my frustrations over unfinished work. I have to PRUNE my project list, SET GOALS, and make healthy HABITS in order to proceed SUCCESSFULLY in the right direction of my creative journey.  So with that said please allow me to share with you my short term goal because I am trying to stay focused on the now and not bite off more than I can Choo Choo – as I chug along, chanting “I think I can, I think I can!” (Get it?!).

BOOK:  I already have a children’s story written, my biggest challenge now is to create the illustrations.

BLOG:  I am in love with blogging and sharing a bit of myself with the creative community.  It’s a confidence builder for sure and oh so fun.  So my goal is to get more organized with my weekly posts so I can use my time wisely.  KAT LANGE DESIGNS blog

FREELANCE @ Kat Lange Designs:  I love interacting with new clients and networking as a freelancer.  This also gives me the freedom that I am fully grateful for at the moment.  I am so blessed.  I soon will be looking for full time employment because lets face it, mama has to bring home the bacon.  So (shameless plug) if anyone hears of anything or would like to hire me as a freelancer, please contact me HERE.

SHOPPE:  Have any of you heard of zazzle.com or redbubble.com or society6.com or designbyhumans.com??  I always knew you could go and create your own products and buy things on these sites but I never knew that you can have your own shoppe.  They do everything for you, printing/assembling, shipping, customer service and they even send you a monthly check of your royalties.  So my goal is to create a fancy dancy little shoppe with custom created pieces by yours truly… by mid November so I can catch the Christmas season.  Fingers crossed… I am pretty excited about this actually.

ARTWORK:  I have always wanted to create my own art for my home decor but have put it on the back burner for a while.  I want to add color and personality to these bland walls, especially in my desk area.  Painting and crafting with my kids and seeing their little eyes light up with awe when their art is on display is an amazing feeling, so stay tuned for art wall pictures.

My challenge for y’all is to set your own creative goals.  Pick things that are going to get you moving in the right direction.  They don’t have to be detailed but you gotta start somewhere.  Good luck and remember that you are in charge of your destiny, make it prosperous, happy, and meaningful.
